Week 12 of pregnancy is the time when your body begins to change and the signs of pregnancy start to appear significantly. At 12 weeks pregnant, you may feel an increase in the body size as well. Week 12 is the end of the first trimester which means you have covered one third of your journey. At this stage problem of miscarriage decreases as the body becomes more stable. It’s now the time where you can throw a party to your family and friends to celebrate and tell them that you are going to have a baby.

Mommy Matters

With the passage of time, your body will continue to change. With each passing week, you will see the difference in your body. During week 12, you will start feeling the head of the womb at the tip of the pubic hair. In medical term, it is known as fundus of uterus. The fundus of the uterus is the top portion, opposite from the cervix. Fundal height is regularly evaluated to assess the growth rate during pregnancy.

Some of the more unpleasant symptoms of early pregnancy may start to recede, and you may find great relief as your appetite returns, and your energy levels increase.

Along with that, internal changes also take place. Your uterus covers the pelvis as its size continues to increase. For many pregnant women, morning sickness may be reduced during this period.

There will be a prominent change all over the body. Many signs of pregnancy begin to disappear as the third month of the pregnancy ends. This does not mean that every sign will go away and nothing is now going to happen, the new signs will come eventually. You will become lazy and get tired quickly because your child is growing in your body rapidly. The child needs more blood supply, more attention and more support from the parts of your body. But you don’t need to worry about such things, all these symptoms are normal. All you have to do is to take care of yourself and your baby.

At pregnancy week 12, when the 1/3 journey has been completed; your baby has now started to grow quickly. As I mentioned earlier, you may face some new discomforts but all of them are normal.

Your baby’s mouth, stomach, and intestines are now linked. The placenta is ready to take over he job of nourishing your baby.

At this point, your baby will begin to show movements but you will not feel it.

By the end of week 12, the structure of the baby becomes more prominent. Body parts of your baby grow and are in a bit of coordination. Eyes take their position, hands, feet, and all other parts of your baby’s body have started to grow at this stage. Baby’s head is still large in proportion to the body, taking up around half the crown-rump length.

Baby Weight and Size

At 12 weeks pregnant, your baby measures around 2-7/8 inches (7.4 cm) long from crown to rump and weighs around 23 grams (3/4 oz). Just about the size of passion fruit.

12 Weeks Pregnant Symptoms and Remedies

For some women, nausea can continue to around week 20. If this is the case, rest assured that your baby will still be getting all he nutrients she needs, even if you are suffering!

As I have told you that at the 12th week of the pregnancy, there is a significant change in the body starts to appear and the growth of the baby also take place. Some new issues may appear because of this growth where you can have pain in your back and legs as the overall body weight increases. Not only that, you may feel laziness and tiredness because of that little child growing inside your womb.

To avoid such issues you have to change your diet. Now you are not eating for yourself, but for your baby as well. So it is recommended that you eat healthy food with fiber, proteins, and nutrients. You need to stop all kind of fast food because that may cause problems for your baby.

Healthy eating habit is an answer to most of the problems. Two things usually happen, either you eat too much or too less. So now it’s time to take a balanced diet.

Start preparation to welcome your baby

One installment of the pregnancy has completed and now only two are left before you meet your child. It is the time to prepare for the new member of the family. Start buying clothes, toys and other things for your child. It helps to make you happy and release stress. Along with the preparations for your baby, you also have to prepare yourself.

Review your eating habits

Again I will focus on the eating because, in many cases, complications occur because women don’t take proper diet and later on, suffer. Look at your eating schedule and replace it with all the healthy food. It is not only good for your health but also for your upcoming baby.

Nuchal Translucency Test

You may be offered the Nuchal Translucency Test around now (often at the same time as your first ultrasound). This is used to help assess your baby’s risk of Down syndrome.
